Over the course of any two-week period, four out of every ten Americans will eat ice cream somewhere, whether it be for a special occasion or simply for no reason whatsoever. We eat ice cream almost 29 times per year on average, consuming somewhere near 1.5 billion gallons of the stuff.
We ice cream eaters will use cones, ice cream cups with lids and without lids, colored spoons and clear spoons. You name it, we find a way to eat ice cream out of it. Even ice cream cakes have become and continue to remain an extremely popular way to consume the deliciousness that is ice cream.
With all of its luscious flavor, you might not think there are many ways that ice cream can be good for you. The truth is, there are benefits to eating ice cream. Again, it should hardly be your main dietary choice but consider these three benefits to eating ice cream.
1.) Ice cream is a source of vitamins.
Ice cream just so happens to be a very large source of vitamins A, B-6, B-12, C, D, and E. As if that weren’t enough, ice cream is also a fine source of vitamin K, which is instrumental in blood clotting. Riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine are also brought into our bodies via most ice cream.
2.) Ice cream is also a wonderful source of energy.
Take your ice cream cups and fill them with your favorite flavor every once in a while and take note of the kind of energy you will receive. Ice cream is rich with carbs, fats, and proteins that give our bodies energy. Listen to Mr. Twain, though. Moderation, you know. You can get too much of a good thing if you are not careful.
3.) Ice cream stimulates the brain.
Ice cream stimulates the thrombospondin, a hormone of happiness. It helps reduce the levels of stress in the body. that is why many people turn to the ice cream cups filled with their favorite flavors when they are down. Ice cream can also help prevent the symptoms of insomnia.
