Coffee is the stuff of life for a great many people all throughout the United States. After all, many of us drink it to get us started for the day, with more than 60% of all coffee consumed during what is known as “breakfast hours.” And in addition to this, coffee and even tea can provide us with the pick me up that we need to continue throughout our day before hitting a slump, something that makes sense, as up to nearly one third of all coffee (around 30% of it) will be consumed between actual meal times. Thanks to the caffeine that coffee contains, only a scant 5% of all coffee is consumed during later hours, something that most people would see as quite reasonable indeed.
And more than half of all adults are drinking coffee or coffee beverages on a daily basis. Some people who don’t drink it daily still love coffee too. In fact, an additional 30% of all people will still consume the stuff on a frequent basis or even just an occasional one. Part of what makes coffee and the coffee beverages that are made using it is simply that so many different people love it – with many of us even feeling very dependent on it indeed. And thanks to local coffee shops, coffee is easier to get ahold of than ever before.
Of course, you can always make your coffee at home. As a matter of fact, more than 86% of all coffee drinkers make their coffee at home at least some of the time, marking as much as a 4% growth in just this. But making coffee at home is great in some instances but not in others. After all, up to half the population will drink various specialty coffee beverages, from espresso shots to lattes to americanos and far beyond. And while such beverages can certainly technically be prepared from the home, it is common for many to not have the knowledge or even the right equipment to be able to do so. Ultimately, therefore, it is important to remember that the coffee shop still plays a vital role in getting ahold of these drinks. After all, the cumulative revenue for independent coffee shops is now as high as $12 billion on an annual basis – a number that is only likely to continue to climb in the years that are ahead of us.
Of course, there are few basic things that are necessary for many coffee shops to actually find this success. For instance, having the right supplies on hand matters quite a lot indeed. Wooden stir sticks are particularly important, as up ot 65% of all coffee drinkers will mix either cream or sugar (and likely both) into their coffee, meaning that only around 35% of the coffee drinking population takes their coffee black and will not need such stir sticks. Without stir sticks, as a matter of fact, most drip coffee would become much more highly unpalateable indeed, to say the very least on the subject matter. And stir sticks are certainly not the only important supply item to have on hand at all times in the average coffee shop. In fact, stir sticks only make up one of many, for that matter.
As a matter of fact, stir sticks are joined by white disposable coffee cups. Having a white paper cup ready to pour coffee in a is a must, as many people will come into the average coffee shop looking to get their coffee to go. While using reusable cups for dine in guests is ideal for reducing waste (something that is certainly growing more and more important with time) it will also be critical for white paper coffee cups to also be utilized. Without such things readily available, it is unforuntately quite likely indeed that many people would simply stop coming to your coffee shop altogether, something that is most certainly far from ideal in terms of sales and even in terms of overall success in the coffee shop environment. In the years that are to come, things like stir sticks and coffee cups will hold in importance.
